HARVARD SQUARE AND JFK LIBRARY
Explore the world famous Harvard Yard, where the young John F. Kennedy lived and studied. You will stroll past the oldest surviving building, 1720, on the campus; Harvard “Coop”, the beloved bookstore; Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, (formerly Radcliffe College for Women); and the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Home, and the headquarters for the General George Washington during the winter of 1775.
Along the way, enjoy the local character and flavor created by the mix of serious graduate students, expressive musicians and street performers. You will have time to browse in Harvard Square, with its many shops, boutiques, and over 25 bookstores. Stop and enjoy the ‘flavor’ of Harvard Square by visiting the range of cafés, tea houses and inviting restaurants.
Enjoy the ride as you travel along the shoreline of Dorchester Bay, where you will visit the spectacular John F. Kennedy Library, designed by I. M. Pei. You will meet your guide, (docent), as you arrive at the Museum. First you will see a short film about President Kennedy, and then you will walk the campaign trail, view the famous Kennedy/ Nixon debates, see the Kennedy oval office,(where the picture of JFK’s son, John - John was taken under the desk), and the gifts the Kennedy’s received during his presidency, as well as mementos from his personal life. For a short time, you will re-live the thousand days of “Camelot”.
